Here's an article that introduces the industrial wind debate to southern New Hampshire. It appears to be fair and objective. Unfortunately the article makes it sound like the Lempster wind facility is inevitable, and there is a lone dissident among all of NH's citizens?!

VERMONT -- For one state lawmaker, the debate about wind turbines on Vermont's ridgelines is reminiscent of a Depression-era scheme to build a highway along the spine of the state's highest peaks. The Green Mountain Parkway, which was defeated in a statewide referendum in 1936, would have stretched 260 miles from Massachusetts to the Canadian border -- and ruined our ridgelines.
HONESDALE -- The owner of 43 windmills towering over the western Wayne County landscape was hit with a tax bill of more than $347,000 Tuesday after an appeals board ruled portions of the devices are subject to local levies. The decision by the Wayne County Assessment Appeals Board, which could be appealed to the county court by owner Juno Beach, Fla.-based Florida Power and Light Energy, could result in the dismantling of the windmills. The company hinted last week that if the windmills were taxed it might pull the plug on the operation and close the wind farm.

Note: Local taxes render wind facility uneconomical.
